Final Android 12 Update Released for Surface Duo 2 as Support Ends

Microsoft releases final Android 12 update for Surface Duo 2 as it prepares to end support for the dual-screen smartphone lineup.

Microsoft has released what is likely the final Android 12 update for the Surface Duo 2 as it prepares to end support for the dual-screen device.

The well-built Surface Duo lineup received praise for its hardware and some of its concepts but didn’t succeed due, in part, to usability, camera, and software deficiencies.

On Microsoft’s website, the company lists the lifecycle for Surface Duo 2 as ending on October 21, 2024. This final update is a mere 54MB on top of Android 12.
