Foxconn's AR glasses move to boost Apple's microLED plans
Foxconn's move into the AR glasses market could help Apple adopt microLED displays in its products as the supplier's capabilities expand

Foxconn's new partnership with Porotech could accelerate Apple's plans to use microLED displays in its products. The two companies will be working on microLED wafer processing and optical module packaging for AR glasses, which is expected to benefit the broader microLED industry, including Apple.
Apple has been rumored to be working on microLED technology since acquiring specialist LuxVue in 2014. Foxconn's move into the AR market could provide Apple with a shortcut to implementing this new display type across its product lineup.
