Apple TV+ Announces 'Smoke': A Thriller from the Makers of 'Black Bird'
Apple TV+ is set to premiere a new crime drama, Smoke, which reunites the creative team behind one of its most critically acclaimed series, Black Bird. Directed by Dennis Lehane and featuring lead actor Taron Egerton and supporting cast members Greg Kinnear, Jurnee Smollett, Anna Chlumsky, and John Leguizamo, Smoke is based on the true story of a serial arsonist who terrorized Southern California for a decade. The series will premiere on June 27 with its first two episodes, followed by weekly releases until August 8.
Black Bird, a 2022 limited series, earned significant critical acclaim with a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes and multiple nominations at the Golden Globes and Emmy Awards. With Smoke sharing the same creators, director team, lead actor, and supporting cast members, there is high anticipation for it to match the success of its predecessor.
Subscription to Apple TV+ costs $2.99 per month with a limited-time special offer.
