Gemini App Gets Fresh ‘Plus’ Menu and Canvas Feature for Android and iOS

Gemini app's 'plus' menu gets a redesign with side-by-side Camera, Gallery, Files, and Drive options, plus the addition of Canvas on both Android and iOS.

Google has rolled out a redesign for the 'plus' menu in its Gemini app on both Android and iOS, alongside the introduction of Canvas. The new 'plus' menu features Camera, Gallery, Files, and Drive (not available on iOS) as pill-shaped buttons, with shortcuts below for Deep Research and Canvas. This update simplifies access to these tools, allowing users to use features like Deep Research without navigating through additional menus. Additionally, a 'Files in this chat' button has been added to the top-right corner of the interface. The mobile version of Canvas does not support a split-pane view like its desktop counterpart, which can impact editing convenience on smaller screens. Users must close documents to make edits via new prompts in the chat. However, the app includes previews and revision shortcuts for easier navigation through document versions.
