Gemini App Update Brings Versatile Homescreen Widget to Android

The Gemini app has received an update that introduces a new Android homescreen widget, which is now widely rolling out. The widget is highly resizable and supports Dynamic Color, with the primary layout resembling Google Keep and Drive widgets. It includes a sparkle icon to open the Gemini app, and other buttons in rounded rectangles, such as a shortcut to Gemini Live. Expanding the widget reveals additional features like speech-to-text and a button to launch the Gemini camera. The full 5×1 bar allows access to the system file picker and gallery. Another design option is a search bar with a grid of all six shortcuts, ranging from a 2×2 size to a larger 5×3 layout, or even a tall 1×3 vertical layout. This update is available for Gemini app version 1.0.751104895 on Android 10 and newer devices.
