Gemini Extensions for WhatsApp, Google Home, Phone, and Messages Rolling Out

Google is gradually releasing a new batch of Gemini Extensions for WhatsApp, Google Home, Phone, and Messages; these extensions will replace the current Google Assistant fallback for those tasks.

Following the Workspace additions in September, there are seven Gemini Extensions for WhatsApp, Google Home, Phone, and Messages that have started "gradually rolling out" on Android. These extensions replace the current Google Assistant fallback for those specific tasks. @WhatsApp is set to be the first extension to access a third-party service and will allow users to make calls and send messages through conversational prompting in English only. The Extensions work by identifying key information from user prompts, such as phone numbers or contacts with corresponding mobile, home, or work numbers. Gemini Extensions will control smart home devices, lights, thermostats, fans, media devices, and other devices such as vacuums by processing natural language commands.
