Gmail Introduces Simplified Docked Reply Bar for Easier Messaging on Android

Gmail for Android is getting a new docked reply bar, replacing the previous quick reply interface with a simpler design that includes Reply, Reply all, Forward, and emoji reactions.

Google is updating the Gmail interface for Android by introducing a new docked reply bar at the bottom of the screen. This bar provides quick access to Reply, Reply all, Forward, and emoji reactions, which are now consistently available while scrolling through emails. The change replaces the previous 'quick reply' UI that allowed users to compose responses while viewing the email content. That feature was rolled out in August last year but faced performance issues for Workspace users and has since been deprecated. The new docked bar is currently being tested on some Android devices, appearing on about half of the accounts checked with Gmail version 2025.05.04.x.
