Google Cancels Pixel Tablet 2 Citing Profitability Concerns

According to recent rumors, Google has decided not to release the Pixel Tablet 2 next year due to concerns about losing money on the device.

According to recent rumors, Google has decided not to release a Pixel Tablet 2 due to concerns about the company losing money on it. The Pixel Tablet 2 was expected to have a similar design to the original with thinner bezels and include a first-party keyboard cover accessory with a touchpad.

Google announced the Pixel Tablet in 2023, and it was reported last week that development on the Pixel Tablet 3 had been canceled. However, it has now emerged that it's actually the Pixel Tablet 2 that has been canned over profitability concerns.

The device was still early in the development and prototyping cycle and included a 5G variant.

Despite these cancellations, Google’s future work on Pixel Tablets is not ruled out entirely, such as rumored plans for a Tensor G6-powered model in 2027.

For those that own the current Pixel Tablet, it's expected this hardware development will have no impact on software updates and Android is still working on large screen devices and enhancements.
