Bottom Address Bar on Chrome for Android

  • Rollout: Google is beginning to roll out the bottom address bar option for Chrome on Android, starting with version 135.
  • Testing: The feature was initially tested last October and is now being introduced to the stable channel.
  • User Experience: Users can touch and hold the address bar to move it to the bottom of the screen, improving reachability. However, the overflow menu (with options like bookmarking, New tab, and History) remains near the top, which could be less convenient.
  • UI Changes: Other parts of the UI, like the New Tab Page, remain unchanged.
  • Availability: The feature is currently available on a limited number of devices, signaling the start of a broader rollout.

Redesigned Chrome Settings

  • New Layout: The settings menu has been redesigned to be more organized and user-friendly.
  • Categories:
    • You and Google: Still the first section.
    • Basics: Thinned out to four options: Search engine, Address bar, Privacy and security, and Safety check.
    • Passwords and Autofill: Grouped together for easier management of related settings.
    • Advanced: Contains a variety of detailed settings including Tabs, Homepage, Notifications, Accessibility, Site settings, Languages, Downloads, and About Chrome.
