Google Debuts AI Mode Shortcut in Search Bar for Android Users

Google is experimenting with a new interface for accessing AI Mode on Android devices through the Search bar. Previously, users could start an AI chat via a shortcut below the search bar. Now, Google is testing a more prominent circle icon within the search field itself, replacing previous voice and Lens icons. A tap on this icon allows immediate interaction with AI Mode. This redesign removes the colorful carousel that provided shortcuts for various features. Initially spotted on one device, free US users can sign up for AI Mode via the Search Labs program. Additionally, iOS users can launch AI Mode using a customizable homescreen widget, and similar functionality is expected to be added to Android as well.
