Google Deploys Gemini Nano AI to Fortify Chrome's Enhanced Protection Against Online Scams

Chrome Uses Gemini Nano for Enhanced Protection Against Scams
Google has unveiled its latest strategies in using artificial intelligence (AI) to combat spam and scams across Search, Chrome, and Android. The company leverages advanced AI models to detect and block hundreds of millions of scammy results daily, employing sophisticated techniques to identify subtle linguistic patterns indicative of fraudulent activities.
Enhanced Protection with Gemini Nano
Chrome's 'Enhanced Protection' mode, which offers additional safeguards against phishing and other scams, now utilizes the Gemini Nano model. This on-device AI model provides real-time insights into risky websites and protects users from emerging scam tactics. It is particularly effective in detecting remote tech support scams.
Android Browser and Notifications
For Chrome on Android, an on-device machine learning model will flag potentially malicious or misleading notifications as 'Possible scam.' Users can choose to show the notification or unsubscribe.
Additional AI Applications
AI also powers Scam Detection features in Google Messages and the Phone by Google app, further enhancing user protection across various platforms.
