Google Expands 2-Year Preferred Care Plans for Pixel Devices
Google has reintroduced and expanded 2-year extended warranty plans for its Pixel devices, including phones and wearables. The Preferred Care program, similar to Apple’s AppleCare, provides users with extended coverage for defects and accidental damage at subsidized repair costs.
- Coverage Options: Monthly billing options previously available have been supplemented by 2-year plans, now widely available for all eligible Pixel devices purchased from the Google Store or retail partners.
- Historical Context: The 2-year plans were initially offered with the launch of the Pixel 9 series but were subsequently removed. They are now reintroduced and tested in select markets like the UK and Japan.
- Provider Change: Google has switched from Assurant to Asurion for these extended warranty services, effective February 24, 2025.
