Google Expands Gemini Live: Pixel 9 and Galaxy S25 Users Get Camera & Screen Sharing
Google is officially rolling out camera and screen sharing in Gemini Live for the Pixel 9 and Galaxy S25 series, expanding its capabilities beyond voice, image, PDF, or YouTube video input. Project Astra enables users to share their screens with Gemini Live, allowing them to navigate, scroll, and ask questions about specific content. The feature can be accessed via the Gemini overlay by tapping 'Share screen with Live' or through the screen share button within the Gemini Live app. Users will see a live count in the status bar and a blue/purple waveform at the bottom of the screen while using the feature. Additionally, users can share their rear camera feed to have conversations about real-world objects, with a reminder to tap or talk to interrupt Gemini. These new features were first teased at I/O 2024 and detailed in December with the launch of Gemini 2.0. They are now available to all Gemini app users on supported devices, with plans to roll out to all Gemini Advanced subscribers soon.
