Google Home Camera History Gets Quick Seek With Double-Tap Gesture

Navigate through Google Home camera history faster with the new double-tap quick seek feature, now available in Public Preview.

Summary

Google has updated the Google Home app (version 3.30) on both Android and iOS to include a new double-tap feature for quick seeking through camera history. Previously, users had to long-press and slide the scrubber or use zoom gestures to navigate through video clips. Now, double-tapping on the right side of the playback window will fast-forward by 10 seconds, while double-tapping on the left side will rewind by 10 seconds. The feature also supports pinch-to-zoom for enlarging the frame.

This enhancement is part of the Public Preview program and aims to provide a more intuitive and efficient way to navigate camera history, similar to other video players. Although it was initially announced in February, it has now been officially rolled out as of March 19th.
