Google Maps Pioneers Live Updates on Android 16 Beta 2.1

Google Maps Supports Live Updates on Android 16
Google Maps has been updated to support the new Live Updates feature in Android 16 Beta 2.1. This is the first app to introduce this functionality, which was previously only available in demo apps. The update (v25.09.02 and higher) allows users with Pixel devices running Android 16 Beta 2.1 to see a pill notification at the top of the screen during navigation. Tapping this notification reveals additional content that can temporarily stick to the top of the screen, even when using other apps.
The Live Updates feature is disabled if Picture-in-Picture mode is turned on. Users can also toggle off 'Live Info' in the app settings. The implementation is similar to what is seen on Galaxy S25 devices running Android 15, but it required a separate update for Android 16.
With the full release of Android 16 expected soon, more apps are likely to adopt Live Notifications.
