In 2024, Google Messages saw several new features and changes, including RCS support on iPhones with iOS 18, Verizon and Samsung moving users to the Google client, and various UI redesigns and feature tests. One notable change was the redesign of the text field, which went through multiple iterations throughout the year. Other additions included dual SIM RCS support, a redesigned Gallery, custom bubbles for theming conversations, Photomoji for creating stickers and reactions, and message editing capabilities. Google also tested a new Contact Details page and a new 'Select recipients' UI.
