The latest beta version of Google Messages has been experiencing a bug that brings back the old text field design. This one-line design starts with the 'plus' menu and is followed by the gallery/camera, while Magic Compose appears on compatible devices. The 'Text or RCS message' field houses various pickers and actions, but becomes pretty narrow when these are displayed. Some beta users have reported seeing this old design return with version 20241008_00_RC00 of Google Messages, although it is only appearing on some devices. It is most likely a bug as Google seems committed to the current left-aligned design.
