Google Messages Expands Text Field Limit: Say Goodbye to the Frustrating 4-Line Restriction

Google Messages is enhancing user experience by expanding the text field limit from 4 lines to 14, making it easier to compose longer messages without losing sight of your content.

Google Messages Rolling Out Taller Text Field

Google is addressing a common complaint about the 4-line limit in the text field of its messaging app, Google Messages. With the latest beta update (version 20250409_01_RC00), users can now type up to 14 lines before the content starts to scroll out of view. This change should improve the user experience, especially when sharing URLs or longer messages.

Additionally, Google has rolled out a redesign to the compose field, adding more padding above and below the text area and increasing the size of the send button, aligning with Material 3 design guidelines. These updates are not yet available in the stable version but are expected to roll out soon.
