Google Photos Introduces 'Undo Device Backup' Feature to Manage Your Photo Library

New Feature in Google Photos: Undo Device Backup
Google is rolling out a new feature in the Google Photos mobile app that allows users to undo device backups. This means you can remove all photos and videos from your Google Photos backup without deleting them from your device.
Key Points:
- Undo Device Backup: Allows users to remove photos and videos from their Google Photos backup.
- No Deletion from Device: The photos and videos will remain on the device but will be removed from Google Photos, including albums, shared albums, search results, and memories.
- Locked Folder Inclusion: Photos and videos in the Locked Folder will also be included in this process.
- Availability: Currently available for iOS users and soon to be available on Android.
Steps to Undo Backup:
- Open Google Photos app.
- Tap your Profile picture or Initial at the top.
- Navigate to Google Photos settings, then Backup.
- Scroll down to find 'Undo backup for this device'.
- Check the box next to 'I understand my photos and videos from this device will be deleted from Google Photos'.
- Tap 'Delete Google Photos backup'.
After deleting the backup, the backup feature will be turned off on that device.
Additionally, Google has announced changes to Partner Sharing, where photos from third-party Android apps are no longer automatically shared with your partner’s account. This change is aimed at reducing clutter and keeping the partner’s feed more focused.
