Google Play adds Search tab to Android tablets and foldables, but wastes screen real estate

Following its launch on phones in August, Google is rolling out a Search tab within the Google Play Store for Android tablets and foldables. The new design wastes screen real estate by removing the 'Search apps & games' search bar from the top-left corner, leaving a large empty gap. Additionally, users now need to go through a two-tap process to look up apps in Google Play.
