Google Refreshes Family Link App with Enhanced Screen Time Management and Visual Updates

Google updates the Family Link app with a new design that brings essential tools for managing screen time front and center, making it easier to supervise multiple devices and kids.

Google Rolls Out Family Link Redesign for Android

Google is currently rolling out a redesigned version of the Family Link app for Android, aimed at making it easier for parents to manage their children's screen time. The new design introduces several changes:

  • Screen Time Tab: Replaces the 'Highlights' tab and prominently displays 'Time spent today' with a breakdown of most used apps. Users can tap for detailed usage information.
  • Simplified Controls: Combines app limits and daily limits into one button for seamless management.
  • Material You Design: The 'Controls' tab features modern Material You design elements, providing easy access to various settings like Google Account, Google Play, YouTube, Google Chrome, Google Search, Google Photos, Location settings, and signed-in devices.
  • Location Section Updates: Includes map modernizations and easier supervision of multiple devices and kids with a new pill design in the top-left corner.

This update is available with Family Link version 2.47 on Android but has not yet been rolled out to iOS users. It aligns with other recent updates like Google Wallet for kids, now available on both phones and Wear OS watches.
