Google Revamps Quick Share with a Fresh Look and Enhanced Features

Google's Quick Share for Android gets a major overhaul with a sleek new interface and dedicated 'Receive' and 'Send' tabs, transforming it into a more app-like experience.

Quick Share Redesign for Android

Google is reportedly working on a major redesign of the Quick Share feature, which currently functions as an equivalent to AirDrop on Android devices. The new design was revealed in a teardown of the latest Google Play Services update and includes several notable changes:

  • Receive Tab: This new tab displays how your device appears to other users and lists any incoming share requests.
  • Send Tab: The existing functionality for sending files is retained, but with an added 'Add Files' option that allows users to manually select files for sharing.
  • Settings Redesign: The settings page, including the 'Who can share with you' section, is also being revamped for a more polished look.

These changes suggest that Quick Share will operate more like a standalone app, rather than just a feature accessible through the sharing menu. The redesign appears to be in a relatively advanced stage, as it was also spotted in a recent One UI 8 leak. However, the exact launch date is yet to be announced.
