Discover the new Emoji Kitchen 'Browse' feature in Gboard, making it easier to explore and combine emojis on your Pixel device.

Gboard Emoji Kitchen 'Browse' Redesign Rolling Out to Pixel Devices

Google announced an updated navigation for the Emoji Kitchen in the December 2024 Pixel Feature Drop. This new Gboard Browse UI is now more widely available for Pixel users.

Key Features:

  • New Icon: When using a compatible app or text field, open the Emoji keyboard to find a new arrow or 3×3 grid icon at the end of the Emoji Kitchen carousel.
  • Browse Screen: Tapping this icon opens a 'Browse' screen showing all possible emoji combinations. Tapping any combination reveals the two characters that were combined.
  • Floating Action Button (FAB): The FAB in the bottom-right corner allows users to select a base character and view all possible combinations. It updates to reflect the chosen character.
  • History: A history feature is accessible from the top-right corner.

Rollout Status:

  • This redesign has been slowly rolling out, starting with the Gboard beta (version 15.2) a few days after the December announcement.
  • It is not yet widely available on the stable (15.1) Gboard version for devices tested.
  • Currently, it appears to be a Pixel-exclusive feature based on available reports and announcements.
