Google Rolls Out Sensitive Content Warnings for Nudity in Messages App
Google is rolling out a new feature in Google Messages called Sensitive Content Warnings, aimed at blurring nude images on Android devices to protect users from potentially harmful content. This feature is opt-in for adults and cannot be turned off for supervised users under 18, while unsupervised teens (13-17) can disable it in their Google Account settings. When a possibly inappropriate image is detected, options include learning about the risks, blocking the sender, or viewing the content after blurring. The system also warns users before they send nude images and requires confirmation to proceed. This classification process works on-device using Android System SafetyCore and does not share identifiable data or content with Google servers. The feature was announced in October and is gradually rolling out, currently appearing only on some devices running the Messages beta.
