Google Tensor G5 and G6 Leaks: Core Configurations, Specs and Exciting Upgrades

The Tensor G5 (codenamed "Laguna") will continue to use the Arm Cortex-X4 and feature a 1+5+2 core configuration, while the Tensor G6 will shift to a 1+6 setup and incorporate the unannounced Arm Cortex-X930.

Leaks about Google's Pixel chip roadmap reveal core configurations and other specs for the Tensor G5 and G6, codenamed "Laguna" and "Malibu" respectively. The Tensor G5 is reported to continue using the Arm Cortex-X4 with a 1+3+4 configuration, while the G5 goes from Arm Mali to an Imagination Technologies GPU that supports ray tracing and GPU virtualization. Benchmark tests show a 14% performance improvement on the TPU side. The Tensor G6 (N3P) moves to a 1+6 core configuration with flagship unannounced Arm Cortex-X930 cores and unreleased A730 cores, alongside a newer Imagination Technologies GPU that consumes 15% less power.
