Google Tests New Customizable Shortcut for Search Widget on Android

Google is testing a new customizable shortcut in its Search widget, offering options like Translate, Song Search, Weather, and more.

Customizable Shortcut in Google Search Widget

Google is testing a new customizable shortcut feature for the Search widget on Android. The widget currently has three default actions: opening the Google app, voice search, and visual search. A new ‘plus’ icon to the left of the microphone will allow users to set shortcuts for Translate (text), Song Search, Weather, Translate (camera), or Finance. This feature can be customized through the Google app settings under 'Customize Search widget.' The shortcut is part of ongoing efforts to revamp and improve user experience in the Google app’s widget. Currently, this feature is only available to beta users.
