First Google TV Streamer Update of 2025 Rolling Out

The first significant update for the Google TV Streamer in 2025 is now being rolled out, bringing a range of improvements and security enhancements. The UTTK.241210.003 update (from UTT3.240625.001) is a 329 MB download, which is notably larger than the previous 35.35 MB update from November.

Key Changes:

  • Security Patch Level: Updated to January 2025 (from August 2024).
  • Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements: The update includes unspecified bug fixes and performance enhancements, similar to Chromecast updates.
  • Voice Remote Update: Firmware version upgraded from 1.00 to 1.02 to address issues with Dolby Atmos getting stuck and improve the detection of connected webcams.

Additional Notes:

  • Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio: These codecs are no longer listed as detected after the update.
  • Installation: To apply the update, users should reboot their Google TV Streamer after it is available. The update can be checked for in Settings > System > About > System Update.

This update has not yet been reflected on Google’s official firmware version and release notes page, but user reports indicate that it significantly improves device functionality.
