Google Unveils ‘Find Hub’ Update for Android with New Features and Branding
Google's 'Find Hub' Update for Android
Google is rolling out a major update to the Find My Device app, rebranded as 'Find Hub.' This change was announced at The Android Show: I/O Edition. Here are the key points:
- New Branding: Version 3.1.337-2 introduces the new 'Find Hub' branding for the Android app, making it consistent across all platforms.
- Combined Features: The app now serves dual purposes—finding devices and locating family or friends, thanks to the introduction of the 'Find Hub Network.'
- Removed Beta Label: The 'People' tab, which was in beta testing for about two months, is now a full-fledged feature without the 'Beta' label.
- Updated Settings Menu: Tapping on 'Settings' now leads to a list with options for 'Find Hub' and 'Google Location Sharing,' rather than directly opening the Google Location Sharing settings.
The update is currently being rolled out via the Google Play Store. However, the website's branding has not yet been updated to reflect these changes.
Future Enhancements:
- Ultra-Wide Band (UWB): Find Hub will soon leverage UWB technology with devices like the Moto Tag for more precise tracking, including direction and distance.
- Satellite Connectivity: Later this year, supported devices will be able to use satellite connectivity for finding and location sharing when cellular signals are unavailable.
