Google’s head of the Android XR project, Shahram Izadi, showcased a prototype of their upcoming Android XR glasses during his talk at TED2025 in Vancouver. The glasses look similar to previous prototypes and were designed to integrate AI capabilities, such as those provided by Gemini, seamlessly into daily life.
During the demo, the glasses demonstrated several features, including real-time translation from Farsi to English, image recognition, and integration with Android devices. These functionalities highlight the potential of XR technology in enhancing everyday activities and communication.
While no specific release date was announced, the prototype provides a glimpse into Google's vision for the future of augmented reality and wearable technology. The event also featured Samsung’s XR headset, which emphasized multiple-window multitasking and VR video capabilities.
