Google Unveils 'Platform and Devices' Team: Unifying Android, Chrome, Pixel, and More Under Rick Osterloh
Google has announced a major internal reorganization that forms the 'Platform and Devices' team, led by Rick Osterloh. This new team will oversee Pixel, Nest, Android, Chrome, and other hardware and software efforts. The move aims to accelerate AI development across Google’s products, particularly for Android. Hiroshi Lockheimer, who previously led the Android team, is moving to other projects within Google and Alphabet. Sameer Samat will take on the role of 'President of the Android Ecosystem' to continue working with third-party Android efforts. The reorganization is designed to streamline the integration of AI advancements into products more quickly.
