Google's Next Big Move: Conversational 'Live' Camera Mode for AI Search

Google is developing a 'Live' camera mode for AI Mode that integrates with Google Lens, enabling real-time voice conversations and multimodal searches.

Google is developing a new feature called 'Live for AI Mode,' which will integrate with Google Lens and enable real-time voice conversations to enhance search capabilities. This experimental feature, currently available in the Google app beta (version 16.17), allows users to interact with AI Mode by speaking to it, muting the microphone, and exiting the session as needed. The Live mode is designed to focus on searching rather than providing personal assistance. Users can tap to interrupt response playback, adjust device volume for better interaction, and share their screen or camera view during the conversation. A transcript of the conversation will be available, and users can explore web links while chatting. The feature includes a control notification that allows ending the session or muting the microphone.
