Gorilla Glass Ceramic Set to Debut on Motorola Device: How Does It Stack Up?

Corning has introduced 'Gorilla Glass Ceramic,' a new material for smartphone displays that offers improved resistance to impact damage compared to traditional aluminosilicate glass. According to Corning, Gorilla Glass Ceramic can survive 10 repeated drops from one meter onto surfaces similar to asphalt, whereas conventional aluminosilicate glass typically breaks on the first drop. However, it is not as strong as Corning's 'Gorilla Armor 2,' which was launched with the Galaxy S25 Ultra and can endure drops from a height of 2.2 meters onto a concrete-like surface. Despite this, Gorilla Glass Ceramic represents an upgrade over existing options. A Motorola device will be the first to feature this new material in the coming months, aligning with Motorola's commitment to use Corning Gorilla Glass in all its smartphones.
