Summary Google is currently addressing an issue with the Cast functionality (formerly known as 'Chromecast built-in') on certain Vizio TV models from 2016-2020, which is not working properly. Google has provided a manual fix that involves downloading an update to the affected TVs. Here are the steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Verify Cast Functionality: Try casting an app to see if it works.
  2. Check for Updates:
    • Press the menu button on your Vizio remote and navigate to All Settings > Admin & Privacy > Check for Updates (or System > Check for Updates for older models).
    • Confirm the update check when prompted.
  3. Install the Update: If an update is available, allow it to download fully.
  4. Restart Your TV:
    • Go to All Settings > Admin & Privacy > Restart TV (or System > Reboot TV for older models).
    • Confirm the restart when prompted.
  5. Do Not Factory Reset: Avoid selecting 'Restore to Factory' as it might override the fix.

The update will roll out to all affected TVs in early May, and no further action will be required. Google apologizes for the inconvenience and assures users that models after 2020 are not affected.
