Hyperspace Expands Storage Optimization with Cloud Services Support

Hyperspace, a Mac utility by John Siracusa, now reclaims storage from large data buckets and cloud services without deleting files.

Hyperspace: Reclaiming Storage Without Deleting Files

Hyperspace, a utility developed by John Siracusa, has been updated to offer enhanced capabilities for reclaiming disk space without deleting files. Initially released in February, the app leverages APFS clones to identify and link duplicate file contents, allowing users to save storage without losing any data.

New Features:

  • Cloud Storage Support: Hyperspace now supports cloud services like iCloud Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and others, enabling space reclamation from these sources.
  • Package Directory Scanning: The app can scan package directories, including Apple Photos libraries, iMovie projects, and Logic Pro projects.

User Safety:

  • These features are disabled by default for safety. Users can enable them in the Advanced tab of the settings.
  • It is strongly recommended to have a redundant backup strategy before using Hyperspace.

Pricing and Availability:

  • Hyperspace is free to download and use, with unlimited scans available without purchase.
  • To perform space-saving actions, users can choose from three one-time purchase options or two subscription plans.
  • The app works with both local and attached APFS storage.

Hyperspace is available on the Mac App Store.
