Ikea's New Smart Sensor Timmerflotte: Universal Compatibility with Matter-over-Thread

Ikea is set to release a new temperature and humidity sensor called Timmerflotte that will support the Matter-over-Thread connectivity standard. This allows the device to work with any Matter-compatible smart home hub, including those from Apple or third-party providers, without requiring an Ikea-specific hub like the Dirigera. The Timmerflotte, which uses two AA batteries and is roughly the size of a typical smoke alarm, will expand Ikea's reach into the smart home market by leveraging a more open and interoperable standard. While it has been revealed through an FCC regulatory filing, there are no official details about its release date or pricing.
