Internet Archive aka Wayback Machine Under Sustained DDoS Attack

The Internet Archive, best known for its Wayback Machine, says that it has been under a sustained distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack for several days. The non-profit says that it is in contact with the attackers, though their motivation is as yet unclear.

The organization's archive contains 835 billion web pages, 44 million books and texts, 15 million audio recordings, 10.6 million videos, 4.8 million images, and 1 million software programs.

The Wayback Machine aims to preserve a comprehensive record of the public web so that if websites go offline or webpages are deleted, an earlier snapshot can be accessed.
