iOS 17.5 Set to Introduce Breakthrough Anti-Stalking Features for Tracking Accessories

iOS 17.5 to Introduce New System to Disable Unwanted Tracking Accessories
Apple is set to release new anti-stalking features with iOS 17.5, as part of a partnership with Google to address concerns about unwanted tracking using accessories like AirTags. Evidence found in the internal code of the iOS 17.5 beta reveals that the Find My app will be able to identify and disable non-Apple or Find My certified tracking accessories.
Users will receive instructions on how to disable these items, which can help prevent stalkers from silently tracking individuals. While this feature is not yet enabled for beta users, it is expected to become available with the official release of iOS 17.5.
Companies like Samsung, Tile, Chipolo, Eufy, and Pebblebee have expressed interest in supporting this technology. Apple has already implemented mechanisms to detect unwanted Bluetooth location-tracking devices, but only those that are Find My certified. The company also offers an Android app to detect AirTags.
The iOS 17.5 beta release does not bring any significant changes yet, with only minor tweaks observed. Apple is expected to launch the public version of iOS 17.5 in May, alongside new iPads and accessories.
