iOS 18 Bug: Touchscreen Issues Plague iPhone 16 Pro and Older Models

A number of iPhone users, particularly those with an iPhone 16 Pro or Max, are reporting touch screen issues where touches, taps, and gestures aren't being recognized by their devices. The issue seems to be tied to a bug in iOS 18 related to its touch rejection feature, which is meant to discern between accidental and intentional touches. Reports of the problem have emerged not just on new iPhone models but also iPads and older iPhones like the iPhone 14. It's unclear how many users are affected by this issue, but one user has managed to intentionally trigger it; another group of users say it's affecting the Camera Control button specifically. The issue doesn't seem consistent as it resolves itself after a few moments before reoccurring later on. This is reminiscent of a similar problem that surfaced with iPhone 12 Mini back in 2020, which was traced to cases and screen protectors preventing touches from being registered properly. Currently, Apple has not issued any comments or response regarding these user reports.
