iOS 18 Photos hands-on: A bold redesign brings major changes, customization, and a bit of confusion

Big Changes for iOS 18’s Photos App The new Photos app in iOS 18 has been completely redesigned and restructured, with a focus on a single-screen navigation and customization options.
-
The traditional tab bar at the bottom of the screen is gone, replaced by a single screen that users can scroll through to find all their content.
-
The app is laid out in two main sections: a top carousel for accessing the full Photos library, and a bottom area for customizable content collections.
-
Users can customize which collections are shown and in what order, as well as adjust the view settings for the main grid of photos.
However, some users may struggle to adjust to the new design, with one commenter expressing frustration that the system is trying to tell them what to look at while making it harder for them to see what they want.
