iOS 18.2 Brings Enhanced Customization Options for EU Users

Users in European countries will soon be able to delete more built-in iOS apps including the App Store, Camera, and Safari with the release of iOS 18.2 due to the DMA antitrust legislation.

Apple is releasing iOS 18.2 with new features and changes that comply with EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA) antitrust legislation. iPhone and iPad users in the EU will be able to delete built-in apps like the App Store, Camera, Safari, Messages, and Photos. Users can also download alternative app marketplaces to replace the App Store.

Other updates include a new menu for setting default apps for email, messages, calls, web browser, password manager, and keyboard on a global scale. iOS 18.2 also introduces Image Playground, Genmoji, ChatGPT integration, and Visual Search for iPhone 16 models.

The update is currently available only to devices compatible with Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro or later, M1 iPads or later) but will eventually be rolled out to other devices as well. The public release of iOS 18.2 is expected in December.
