iOS 18.3 Beta 3 Introduces Changes to Apple Intelligence Notification Summaries

Apple has released iOS 18.3 beta 3 to developers, with a new public beta also available shortly after. This update addresses complaints from news outlets and includes several changes to the notification summaries feature:

  • Beta Clarification: When enabling notification summaries, it will be made clear that this is part of Apple's Intelligence beta program.
  • App-Level Control: Users can now disable notification summaries for individual apps directly from the Lock Screen or Notification Center by swiping and selecting 'Turn Off Summaries.'
  • Text Distinction: On the Lock Screen, notification summaries are displayed in italicized text to better differentiate them from regular notifications.
  • Warning in Settings: The Settings app now includes a warning that notification summaries 'may contain errors.'
  • Temporary Disable for News & Entertainment Apps: Notification summaries have been temporarily disabled for apps in the News & Entertainment category, with plans to re-enable them after further refinements.

iOS 18.3 is currently available as a developer beta and a public beta is expected within the next week. The release date for the general public has not yet been announced.
