  • iOS 18.4 Beta Release: The first beta of iOS 18.4 was released, bringing new smart home features to the Apple Home app.
  • Matter Protocol Support: The update introduces support for Matter-compatible robot vacuums and mops, enhancing integration with Siri and HomeKit automations.
  • Current Compatibility: As of now, the only compatible model is the Switchbot S10 Robot Vacuum and Mop, but more manufacturers are expected to add support soon.
  • Control Features: Users can control the vacuum using Siri voice commands on various Apple devices, including starting and stopping cleaning sessions, enabling or disabling the mop, and setting cleaning modes. There's also a 'Send to Dock' option to return the vacuum to its charging station.
  • Advanced Features: For more advanced settings like room mapping and custom routes, users will need to use the manufacturer’s companion app.
  • Future Availability: The update is currently in beta and expected to be publicly released as a free software update in April. Support for Matter robot vacuums is also being added to other Apple operating systems, including iPadOS 18.4, tvOS 18.4, watchOS 11.4, and macOS 15.4.
