iPhone 17 Air Prototypes Showcase Ultra-Thin Design, Compromise on Features
Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Air could be the company's thinnest smartphone yet, with prototypes measuring between 5 and 6mm thick. However, this focus on thinness has led to some compromises in other aspects of the device's design.

The Information reports that Apple is working on an ultra-thin "iPhone 17 Air" set to launch next year, with prototypes between 5 and 6 millimeters thick. This has led to challenges for Apple engineers, such as difficulty fitting the battery and thermal materials into the device. The iPhone 17 Air will also reportedly lack mmWave 5G, have a single earpiece speaker due to its thin design, and use Apple's in-house modem that is less performant than Qualcomm's.
