iPhone 18 Lineup Set to Leap Forward with Cutting-Edge 2nm Chip Technology

iPhone 18 to Feature 2nm Chips Ming-Chi Kuo, a prominent analyst, has updated his prediction regarding the upcoming iPhone 18 lineup. According to Kuo, all models of the iPhone 18 will be powered by Taiwan Semiconductor's (TSMC) new 2nm chips, marking a significant internal upgrade over the current 3nm A18 processor used in the iPhone 16. The strong test yields of the 2nm chips, now exceeding 70%, have bolstered Kuo's confidence in this prediction.
Changes for iPhone 17 and iPhone 18
While Apple is set to release the iPhone 17 later in 2025, rumors suggest that the company will discontinue the Plus model in favor of a thinner variant, potentially called the iPhone 17 Slim. This new model is expected to use the A19 chip and faster RAM to enhance performance. Apple is also rumored to be working on reducing bezels to near-zero for the iPhone 17.
Performance Gains for iPhone 18
The smaller die size of the 2nm A20 processor in the iPhone 18 could bring a 10-15% boost in performance over the iPhone 17, along with reduced energy requirements. This improvement is expected to enhance battery life. Additionally, Samsung may supply camera sensors for the new iPhone models.
