Jabil Eyes Expansion: New Factory in India to Boost AirPods Case Production

AirPods Supplier Jabil Plans Second Plant in India US-based manufacturing firm Jabil, a long-time supplier of AirPods charging cases, is reportedly planning to expand its production capacity with a new factory in Tamil Nadu, India. This move aligns with Apple's broader strategy to increase the production of its devices in India rather than China. The facility in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) will focus on producing components such as enclosures, plastic bodies, or casings for AirPods charging cases, but not full charging cases.
Jabil executives met with Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister MK Stalin in April 2025 to discuss their plans and are expected to finalize their decision by the end of June or July. The expansion is part of a larger trend, as Foxconn, another major Apple supplier, has already shifted much of its AirPods production to India and is also planning to expand iPhone production in the country.
