M4 Max vs Nvidia GeForce RTX GPUs: Apple's High-Performance Graphics Revealed in Blender Benchmark

Apple's new MacBook Pros with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chipsets were released last week and initial CPU benchmarks show promising performance, especially for the high-end M4 Max chipset. GPU benchmarks from Blender Open Data further highlight the M4 Max's power, averaging a score of 5208 across 28 tests. This puts it just below Nvidia’s RTX 4080 laptop GPU and above the desktop RTX 3080 Ti and current-gen desktop RTX 4070. The performance is impressive considering Apple's graphics are on-chip. However, compared to the highest-end comparable Nvidia offering, the RTX 4090 Laptop, the M4 Max is still around 30% slower.
