Macintosh Plus Revived: Coders Get 1986 Computer Talking to ChatGPT

A coder and Raspberry Pi user has revived a 1986 Macintosh Plus by updated it with custom modern parts, and got it online browsing ChatGPT and Wikipedia.

A YouTuber named Hunter Irving has managed to updated a 1986 Macintosh Plus computer so that it can access modern websites like ChatGPT and Wikipedia. Although the process of connecting the computer to the internet was not particularly difficult, browsing websites proved more challenging due to the original technology's limitations in handling CSS or Javascript, and encryption of modern websites. Nonetheless, Irving was able to create workarounds using MacWeb 2.0 and a custom version of an existing app called MacProxy, which ultimately enabled the Macintosh Plus to access sites like Reddit and play a low-resolution version of the movie Shrek. However, due to its slow processing speed (receiving around 400 bytes per second), browsing sessions can be quite slow.
