Matter 1.4 Spec Update: Expanded Device Support & Enhanced Features for Smart Home Ecosystems

The Connectivity Standards Alliance has finalized the Matter 1.4 spec, bringing support for new devices including home routers and access points (HRAP), as well as improvements in energy management with new features like solar panel arrays and battery storage cells.

The Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) has released the Matter 1.4 spec, bringing improvements such as support for home routers and access points, easier installation of smart devices into multiple ecosystems, energy management tools and new device types. The CSA is made up of Apple, Google, Samsung, among others, and strives to create a unifying standard that would allow products to work together across platforms like Apple Home and Amazon Alexa.
