What Google Messages Features are Rolling Out [May 2025]
Still Rolling Out (Beta)
- Sensitive Content Warnings: Blurs images that may contain nudity and reminders about the risks of sending such content. This feature works on-device without sending data to Google.
- Expanded Text Field Limit: The compose field now supports up to 14 lines on a Pixel 9a.
- Camera + Gallery Merger/Redesign + ‘Original Quality’ Sending: Merges the live viewfinder with the camera roll, allowing users to send pictures and videos in 'Optimize for chat' or 'Original quality'.
- Read Receipts Redesign: Moves read receipts to a circle at the bottom-right corner of message bubbles, with swipe options for more details.
- Dual SIM RCS Support: Enables dual SIM cards to appear as 'Connected' in settings, aiding international RCS adoption.
- Magic Compose in Suggested Replies Row: Always shows Magic Compose or Magic Rewrite for better visibility.

- Improved Media Receiving Performance: Addresses issues with media receiving, reducing failures and slowdowns.
- Real-time Scam Detection: Flags conversational patterns associated with scams, allowing users to report or block suspicious activity.
- Screen Effects: Various visual effects for holidays and common expressions.
