MediaTek Unleashes Dimensity 9400+: Power and Efficiency for the Android Future
Summary
MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 9400+, a generational upgrade to its existing Dimensity 9400 chipset for Android devices. The new SoC retains the same core structure, including a Cortex-X925 core, 3x Cortex-X4 cores, and 4x Cortex-A720 cores. However, it offers an increased clock speed of 3.73GHz (up from 3.62GHz in the Dimensity 9400), which provides better performance.
The most significant improvements are in AI processing and gaming performance. The NPU 890 now features Speculative Decoding+, which MediaTek claims increases agentic AI speed by 20% through parallel token prediction. In gaming, a new frame rate converter offers up to 40% power savings, leveraging the 12-core Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU.
Connectivity enhancements include extended Bluetooth direct connections up to 10km and support for BeiDou satellite connections in China. Additionally, Wi-Fi 7 tri-band concurrency with five streams is supported, enhancing overall connectivity options.
MediaTek positions the Dimensity 9400+ as a more efficient and powerful upgrade for flagship devices in 2025, with new devices featuring the SoC expected to launch soon.
